Description

Testing for a specific learning disability usually involves three primary types of assessment: Testing of intellectual or cognitive potential; Testing of information processing or sensory motor abilities that are indicative of a learning disability; and, Assessment of current educational achievement with informal data collection.

Our evaluator will also conduct a dyslexia evaluation if reading looks to be an issue. Our dyslexia evaluation is targeted to identify the likely source of the reading problem. The evaluation is designed to rule out other common causes of reading difficulties and will determine if the student’s profile of strengths and weaknesses depict characteristics of dyslexia.

If writing is an issue, our evaluator will also look to determine if there is dysgraphia. In an evaluation for dysgraphia the evaluator looks at a variety of skills that affect writing such as: fine motor skills, copying skills, and how one expresses their thoughts in writing.

Our evaluator will work with you to ensure that the evaluation documentation is aligned to your educational institution standards. Be aware that the formal assessment for a learning disability can take up to eight hours. Our evaluator will work with you and determine an appropriate testing format to ensure that you are able to give your best performance.
